Lt. Mike's son
Dave, As my wife picked shells on Sanibel a couple of weeks ago, my son and I picked our favorite sticks. At least he had his vegetables that day! Thanks for the great radio, my Saturday wouldn't be complete without it. Lt. Mike, Port Washington,WI

Lt. James sends cigars to troops
Letter of thanks sent back to Lt. James:
James, Thanks much for the cigars. We handed them out at a New Years celebration that was put on for soldiers who are here for a short term rest and relaxation (R&R). These soldiers, sailors and airman come to Qatar from Iraq and Afghanistan for 4 short days to rest from combat. There really isn't much for them to do here so the morale, welfare and recreation (MWR) folks plan events for them both on and off the base. These events range from USO shows to shopping trips into the city, when security allows. The New Years party was one of those events. Food is provided and each servicember is allowed 3 beers. I can tell you your cigars were a real hit and they went fast. The cigars definitely contributed to the success of this (or should I say last) years New Year's Eve celebration and it was certainly my honor to deliver them for you. I've attached some pictures for your use. I'm sorry there aren't more, but picture taking on base is usually not allowed. We did, however, receive permission to take these. Again, thank you not only for the cigars, but more importantly your support to these great young troops.
Respectfully, Col. Steve (US Army)

Lt. Chuck's wife winning a "Long Ash" contest
I'm blues singer/songwriter Chuck Adkins. You played my tune "CIGAR MAN" on your show. Myself and friends at the East County Cigar Club in Portland went to the 2nd annual SmokeEasy at the Lucky Eagle Casino in Rochester, WA last Sept. 29. Over 300 cigar lovers got to sample various cigars, won prises like humidors and 2 trips for two to Honduras. Here are two photos of my wife of 39 years (we went to the senior prom together). SHE WON THE LONG ASH CONTEST . All I can say is, WHAT A WOMAN! We meet at Cascade Cigar & Tobaco and all listen to your show.
Long ashes and a salute to you, Chuck Adkins

Lt. Chris Juhl (l) & friend Eric Olsen (r)
Picture was taken at my family’s cabin on Lake Vermilion in northern Minnesota. Picture was taken February 4th of 2007, but what is hard to tell is that it was -50*. I had to put the camera on my truck (which wouldn’t start naturally) because nobody would come out of the cabin and take our picture. I have supplied the weather information from that day to somewhat prove it, however the information is from Cook, MN and not near the lake where it gets much cooler. |
